I always tell my children that any excuse is better than no excuse, so here's mine: I have been trying to earn an A in the "Literature of the Renaissance" class I'm in, so I was working on my paper rather than reading Your Eyes for very long. Oh, well - there's always the weekend.
I did get a couple more chapters in, and I love how much Janie is enjoying life with Tea Cake. A woman enjoying her own life and her own sexuality was definitely a rarity in the literature of this time period, so I can see why the critics of the time had issue with Hurston. Silly now in retrospect as many have figured out, thank God. Hopefully, I'll get this finished tomorrow. Should be easy - only 70 pages left.
