For the ten burgers off the list that I’ve tried, I decided
I should rate them. After all, it’s a
nice round number, right? Well, here
goes.
1.
Max’s Wine Dive –
cooked to perfection and smothered with a thick slab of brie. Add in a place full of personality and this
burger easily tops my list (so far!!).
2.
Alamo Springs Café –an excellent taste experience. It didn’t quite send me into ecstasy like Max’s
did, and the atmosphere does detract a little from the total experience (too
hot and no A/C).
3.
Gourmet Burger Grill – a truly great experience all the
way around. Lots of interesting and
unique toppings to try.
4.
Roaring Fork – one of these days, I’ll have to go back and
see if I can handle the Big Ass burger, but the Half Ass was heaven on a bun.
5.
The Cove – the melding of flavors on the Texas burger
will make you beg for more.
6.
Fatty’s – the flavorful burger came perfectly cooked
and dripping in juices. Kudos to the new
owners for thinking outside the (ice)box with an ice cream burger that will
give you a unique burger experience.
7.
Big’z – make sure you get it dirty – you won’t be
disappointed!
8.
Koffee Kup – the burger was overcooked from how I
ordered it, but it was good and messy like a burger should be.
9.
Roadhouse – fresh jalapenos and a thick slab of cream
cheese topped this burger off well.
10.
Café Michael – the mushrooms and onions on the burger saved
this burger from blandness.
It's interested how differently I rated these as opposed to Texas Monthly's ratings, but I guess that's why there is never a shortage of new burger places for us to try! I've been having a blast so far - just wish I was better at describing how good these have been and how much fun it's been. Right now, my bigger issue is that I’m going to have problems trying to convince
my husband I need to drive to Dallas for a burger (not to mention the eight
hours to El Paso), but I’ll work on him!
At least the places in Austin can be easily reached.
