Heller's novel is familiar to me in a way. There is, of course, the obvious comparison to Kurt Vonnegut, but I I also think Richard Hooker must have been inspired by this novel to write
M*A*S*H. I see a lot of the same sentiments about war that I saw in Hooker's novel (and the subsequent movie and television show).. Satire is such an upper-level mode of thinking that I think I will have to read more by Heller, just as I was hooked on Vonnegut from the first few pages of
Cat's Cradle, my first foray into his crazy worlds.
